IX on the 9s
The Office of Equal Opportunity Services (EOS) is proud to introduce “IX on the 9s,” a new initiative launching on October 9, 2025, aimed at preventing sexual misconduct and raising awareness about gender-based violence within the Rice community.
The campaign’s name reflects its dual focus: “IX” refers to Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination—including sexual harassment, assault, dating violence, and stalking—in federally funded educational settings. “On the 9s” highlights the campaign’s monthly cadence, with programming released on the ninth day of each month.
Over the course of six months, students, faculty, and staff will receive a monthly video featuring a fictional monologue that explores an incident of misconduct from the perspective of those affected. These narratives are designed to illuminate the emotional and social impact of prohibited conduct, fostering a more profound understanding and empathy across campus.
Through this campaign, EOS aims to empower the Rice community to recognize and address harmful behaviors, promote accountability, and foster a culture where safety, dignity, and respect are shared values. Together, we can build a campus environment where everyone feels supported and protected.
Our November session is tentatively scheduled:
